This fixture over the years has been terrible for me, mostly because they have been the two best teams in the league who have been competing for the title. I usually go for City, even though they’re my clubs local rivals and have been the best team in England the past decade, even with all that, I still just feel they’re irrelevant. This weekend I find myself in a rare position in which I probably should be cheering on Liverpool due to City being 3 points clear with a game in hand but I just don’t think I could ever bring myself to smile when the scousers score. I hate absolutely everything about that football club and its fanbase, but City really need this winning streak to come to an end so with that I’m praying for a draw. City slip up and Liverpool fail to win at home AGAIN.
As just stated, City are on an incredible run of form, winning their last 5 and have become everyone’s favorites to win the league, meanwhile Liverpool can’t score, let alone win a game at home if their lives depended on it at the moment. The scousers seem to have had an upper-hand in this fixture since 2018 so that could give them a little confidence boost in the build up to this massive game.
Agenda FC Combined XI
I asked the writers of our team here to vote for who they would put into their combined XI and this is what we got. Some leaned for Fernandinho ahead of Thiago(can you blame them), but Thiago edged it, Walker vs Trent was another close debate. We were split down the middle for Salah vs Mahrez at RW. To the surprise of many of the readers I made the executive decision to put Salah in ahead, as I feel Mahrez isn’t as consistent as he is. The defence is very hard to disagree with unless you’re a blind TAA fan, even Liverpool would rather City’s CB pair over what they have. Robertson at LB was a unanimous decision as well as Gundogan and Bernardo Silva ahead of Henderson and Gini. Jesus is there simply because Aguero hasn’t been fit all since and Firmino is well..Firmino.
Final Score Prediction
The Anfield aura seems to have vanished and City are just too hot right now, I just cant look past them, i’m going for a comfortable 0-2 away win with Sterling bagging his first goal at Anfield since leaving the club. Vote in the poll below and let us know who you think wins!
