I hope you guys are happy, you got what you wanted. We could’ve been in Madrid, Milan, Dubai and Tokyo. Instead we’re stuck with Turf Moor and Norwich every other year. We could’ve saved football but instead you all sided with the ‘good guys’ UEFA, Fifa and the FA. I really hope you’re happy. I don’t wanna see ‘You call this a Super Sunday?’ when Sky give you Sheffield vs Fulham in the prime time Sunday fixture, this is what you wanted. I don’t wanna hear complaints about signings or no money, the money was there for the taking, but you guys said nah. I had already bought Mbappe in my head then those hypocrites on Sky brainwashed you, now I’m back to Dan James in crunch games.
The New Champions League
You fought, cried and hashtagged because you didn’t want a competition that clubs didn’t fairly earn qualification for… all for UEFA to give you that anyway, again I repeat, I hope you’re happy. UEFA Won. Another win for the ‘good guys’. At least in the ESL they were being honest and said it’s about money. UEFA will tell you they did this for you, they didn’t. It’s just as much about money for them as it is for Perez.
Now I’m going to take you through all the amazing things we’ve missed out on cause of YOU.
What Could Have Been
This would’ve been one of the best things to be brought to football in years, imagine a yearly draft where clubs get their pick of the best domestic league players. The twists and turns and speculation on who drafted who. Imagine Sancho putting on a Utd cap, you guys really don’t enjoy nice things. We could’ve seen more swap deals and trading draft picks etc. Instead we’ll get West Ham charging 100m for Declan Rice this summer. You guys won.
What better way to improve a final than by adding a half time show, imagine paying 90 quid for a final ticket and not only getting to see the game but also seeing Beyonce, win win for me.
Imagine at half time in a game at Old Trafford, instead of sitting on your phone bored, Fred the Red is launching jerseys into the crowd free of charge. We missed out big time.
We always complain about teams just passing it around and boring possession based games, with the ESL we could’ve had shot clocks. Imagine a team being forced to shoot before the timer runs out, the game would never be boring again. Sigh.
Medals suck. Imagine rings in football. Ronaldo and Messi taking photos like this would be unreal. You guys really don’t know the damage you’ve done.
You’re lying to yourself if you say you wouldn’t want this. Imagine Europe vs Rest of the world or team Nike vs team Adidas. We hit the jackpot and we blew it. They could’ve made it a whole week, free kick contest, heads & volleys, imagine a game of red ass with 90k in the stadium, I’ll never forgive you guys.
As of now the Super League is ‘suspended’. That means we’ll be back, one day I’ll get my Super League, I promise you that.
I think it’s important to say 95% of this article was a joke so please don’t get upset. I seen people crying and punching walls over the ESL, I promise you, it’s not that deep. But there are issues that are this deep. I hope this week opened your eyes to everything that’s wrong in Football, the people involved in the game can make change, they encouraged you to write to politicians, to boycott games, to protest. I just hope they bring the same energy during the next case of racial abuse in football. If we the fans really want to ‘save football’ we’ll continue this togetherness and really take the game back to the fans. Go after Sky and BT next, UEFA, FIFA and the FA too!
Thanks for reading!
Stay tuned for another podcast tonight, where we’ll review the aftermath of what’s gone on the past two days and what’s next for football.
